Residential Burglaries Spike in Buckhead, Neighborhood Associations Say

Police are warning residents to refrain from purchasing goods or services from door-to-door solicitors, as they may be casing your house.

A pair of neighborhoods in Buckhead are on heightened alert after a rash of residential burglaries and attempted burglaries has been reported in recent days.

BuckheadView reports that the Garden Hills and Mt. Paran-Northside communities have noticed an upswing in criminal activity since May 8. On that day, a pair of burglars tried to drive a truck through the gate of a home in the Mt. Paran-Northside area, but were scared off when the homeowner got on the intercom and said she was calling 911.

On May 12, three burglaries were reported in Garden Hills between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. BuckheadView reports that although only $100 was taken from one of the homes, police were unable to recover fingerprints from the scenes and residents did not see any suspicious activity.

Burglaries and attempted burglaries have also been reported in Peachtree Heights East and Peachtree Hills.

Police say that as the weather warms up, would-be burglars may be casing homes by posing as door-to-door salesmen offering lawn care or items for sale. Residents are urged not to buy anything from these people or hire them to do any work for you. If you get suspicious, please call 911.
