Retired Sheriff's Deputy Hit by Car in Buckhead

A retired Fulton County sheriff’s deputy was hit by a car while directing traffic in Buckhead on Thursday afternoon, the Atlanta Police Department said.

According to APD spokesperson Gregory Lyon, the retired deputy suffered an ankle injury. Lyon said that the deputy will likely need to visit the hospital to have his injury checked out. He added that there was no indication at this time that the incident was a hit-and-run.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the incident occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Peachtree and 28th streets.
