For many, the holiday season just would not be complete without going to see the Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol or other traditional holiday show. For some, it's the excitement of a new production that gets them in the spirit. No matter what you prefer, saving money is always in season, especially during November and December. The Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker returns the Fox Theatre with live music accompaniment by the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. For those north of the city, the Southern Ballet Theatre returns to Infinite Energy Center in Duluth with its sparkling production The Nutcracker.

A Christmas Carol returns to the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville. This unique adaption of the Charles Dickens' classic is a one-man show with actor Anthony P. Rodriguez bringing to life the familiar characters of Ebenezer Scrooge, his partner Jacob Marley and his employee Bob Cratchit, as well as the famous ghosts of Christmas, past, present and future. Act fast, at press time there was only one evening available.

For a more traditional version of A Christmas Carol, try the Alliance Theatre's rendition. This year the show is at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.

If you are looking for something a little different, try Merry Little Holiday Shorts at Onstage Atlanta. This show is a collection of nine short plays, written by local and national playwrights. These original works are sure to make your season a bit merrier.

Something fun for the kids is Frosty, a musical retelling of the story of everyone's favorite snowman at the Marietta's new Theatre in the Square.
