π± Search For Armed Robber + Shooting Victim's Family Wants Justice
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Buckhead.
Hi all. It's me, Carla Varner, your host of the Buckhead Daily — here to impart all the most important things happening in town. Let's have at it...
First, today's weather:
A shower and thunderstorm. High: 87 Low: 71.
Here are the top three stories in Buckhead today:
- The Atlanta Police Department is currently searching for a Buckhead armed robber. The incident occurred at the Publix store on West Paces Ferry Road on May 10. The suspect reportedly approached a Buckhead resident while they were putting groceries in a Cadillac Escalade. The unidentified man pulled the woman out of the car and stole her rings. Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact the department. (Reporter Newspapers)
- Are you in the market for a new best friend? Patch, with the help of Petfinder, has compiled a list of adoption-ready pets in the Buckhead area that are searching for a forever home. Click to view the complete list of pets. (Buckhead Patch)
- The family of a shooting victim is demanding answers from the community. Artez Jamil Benton, 32, was fatally shot in the 2200 block of Peachtree Road during a dispute in a Buckhead shopping center. A lot of uncertainty still surrounds the shooting that occurred last Sunday — including whether any of the three victims were targeted or if suspects have been identified. The Artez family just wants justice. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)

Are you a Buckhead resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
