A Fulton County jury has convicted a man on charges related to a series of sexual assaults which he carried out over the course of several years, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Gregory Hillman, 50, was convicted of rape, aggravated sodomy, and false imprisonment on Monday and was subsequently sentenced to eight consecutive life sentences plus an additional 40 years in prison, the DA’s Office said.

The DA’s Office said that Hillman was responsible for nine rapes in Atlanta and south Fulton County between July 2005 and July 2012. Hillman ran a mobile automotive repair business, which he used to lure women into a false sense of security, according to the DA’s Office. Once at Hillman’s home or the victim’s home, Hillman sexually assaulted the women and refused to let them leave when they tried to escape, the DA’s Office said.

If the attack occurred at Hillman’s house, he would tell the victim that he was a widower and would show the victim a copy of his wedding video to earn sympathy before carrying out the attack, the DA’s Office explained.

Hillman’s victims ranged in age between 28 and 48, according to the DA’s Office. Hillman’s spree was only stopped in September of 2013, when Fulton County Police arrested Hillman and sought additional victims of his misdeeds.
