Shots Fired by Atlanta Police; Suspect Sought

ATLANTA, GA — Police are searching for a man who produced a weapon on them Wednesday afternoon.

An Atlanta police spokesman says officers opened fire on the man. The incident took place at the Royal Church Apartments on Northside Circle. No one was injured.

WSB spoke to a woman who said the suspect followed her into the apartment's laundry room and then started throwing money at her 7-year-old son.

Police also say the man threatened a maintenance worker with a gun the day before.

Police also believe the man may be suffering from a mental illness.
