Shrubs and Trees to be Cleared Along Northside Drive Corridor

The work is a precursor to the installation of improved waterlines and sidewalks for Interstate 75 up to Northside Parkway.

Crews have begun removing shrubs and trees from the immediate area of Bobby Jones Golf Course in preparation for the addition of a new 36-inch water line and improved sidewalks along the Northside Drive Corridor.

According to Georgia Department of Transportation Communications Director Rick Parham, motorists driving in the area of the golf course at 384 Woodward Way should be mindful of heavy equipment and workers operating between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Parham says that contractors will be closing water valves on Northside Drive at Longwood and Wesley drives on Friday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. as part of the project. No water service interruptions are anticipated, but residents can call 678-618-4093 or 770-231-8767 if interruptions happen.

On Monday, Oct. 6, the clearing project will start working its way southbound on the west side of Northside Drive, starting from the intersection with Interstate 75 and heading towards Peachtree Creek. These clearing projects are expected to take four weeks to complete.

“[W]e’re pleased that this project is under way,” Parham said.
