Here are the top three stories in Buckhead today:

1. The Shepherd Center, a hospital in Buckhead that specializes in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neuromuscular conditions, announced its largest investment expansion in history of $350 million. The addendum entails a 165-unit housing building that will increase the number of hospital beds by 30%. Construction begins immediately on the project and it is estimated to be finished by 2025. 2. Buckhead-based Italian restaurant, Portofino, will close on October 22 after more than two decades in operation. Mike Anderson, the owner of Portofino, made the announcement via social media. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)

• The Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods will meet on October 13 at 6:45 PM at the Piedmont Center Auditorium at Building 14, 3535 Piedmont Road, NE. There is sufficient parking and easy access to the auditorium for guests. The meeting will be in-person only and attendees are asked to register in advance online. (Free: Buckhead Council)
• The deadline for student schedule changes for students of the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education is October 1. This is the case for students not just at The Buckhead Centre location. (Free: Atlanta Ballet)
