Sterling Risk Advisors Promotes Karissa M. Thigpen To Client Executive

Sterling Risk Advisors has promoted Karissa M. Thigpen to Client Executive. Thigpen, who joined Sterling Risk Advisors in 2014, provides risk management and commercial insurance solutions to clients across a wide range of industries. Sterling Risk Advisors is a full-service Atlanta-based risk management and insurance brokerage firm serving the commercial, professional and personal needs of clients across a diverse spectrum of industries.

Thigpen has experience in a variety of risk management settings including:

• Working directly with producers to manage existing accounts and facilitate new business
• Marketing new business and renewal accounts for all lines of business in various classes of insurance
• Negotiating coverage and rates with underwriters
• Understanding of Standard and Non-Standard markets and their rating appetites
• Identifying needs and providing clients with relevant risk management and insurance recommendations
• Using online rating systems for 30+ carriers/brokers
• Preparing finance agreements
• Keeping up with industry trends to continually provide solutions to emerging coverage exposures

Immediately prior to joining Sterling Risk Advisors, Karissa worked for River Club Apartments as a community assistant, where she gained sales experience with an emphasis on relationship building. She is currently working on her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Thigpen received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Risk Management and Insurance with a Certificate in Legal Studies from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. While at UGA she was a member of Gamma Iota Sigma, an international risk management, insurance and actuarial sciences collegiate fraternity, and was publicity chair of The National Society of Leadership and Success.

Originally from Blackshear, Georgia, Thigpen now lives in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta.
