UPDATE: Storms Cause Power Outages in Buckhead

Wednesday's spate of severe weather had knocked out electricity for over 1,000 Georgia Power customers in the Buckhead area.

UPDATE (5:26 p.m.): The Georgia Power outage map reports that 243 Fulton County customers are without power as of 5:19 p.m.

UPDATE (3:53 p.m.): The Georgia Power outage map reports that 594 Fulton County customers are without power as of 3:50 p.m.

UPDATE (3:34 p.m.): The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fulton County which will expire at 4:15 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY (3:27 p.m.): More than 1,000 Georgia Power customers in Buckhead have lost electricity due to severe weather which barreled through the county on Wednesday afternoon.

Georgia Power’s outage map, last updated at 3:19 p.m. Wedensday, showed 1,792 Fulton County customers had been affected by power outages. The largest single grouping of outages is between W. Paces Ferry and Marietta roads in Vinings and Buckhead, where 1,201 customers have lost electricity. Georgia Power estimates the restoration of services in this area will take at least another half hour.

347 customers between Tara Trail and Burdette Road in Londonberry have lost power, as well. Service will be restored to this area by approximately 4:30 p.m.

All told, some 9,299 Georgia Power customers are currently without power.
