Superhero Patients Honored by Atlanta Communities Wearing Capes on "Cape Day ATL"
Wear a Cape on Nov. 7 to Show Support for Patients at Children's; Four-Year-Old "Super DJ" to Press Button for Building Implosion

Staff Report
Communities across Atlanta are gearing up for Cape Day ATL, a city-wide celebration on Friday, Nov. 7, when schools, organizations and families will wear capes to show support for the brave kids at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and a special superhero-loving patient.
Some superheroes battle scary villains, but heroes at Children’s fight something much scarier—accidents and illnesses that create challenges most could never imagine. One superhero patient, four-year-old DJ Pitts, wore many capes during his six-month hospital stay after accidentally swallowing a dangerous engine cleaning material. From Batman and Superman capes to a homemade cape that proudly said “Super DJ,” he has overcome near impossible obstacles. When he dons a cape, nothing is out of reach.

To show support for DJ and brave kids like him, the Atlanta community is celebrating Cape Day ATL to surprise and delight Children’s patients with photos on social media that show residents wearing capes in their honor.
The morning after Cape Day, on Saturday, Nov. 8, DJ and a group of superheroes will demonstrate their strength and bravery by pressing a button that will implode a 19-story building. The property is the former Executive Park Motor building at the corner of I-85 and North Druid Hills Road. The building implosion will make way for future Children’s facilities to better serve the community.
