UPDATE: AMTRAK Train Departs Atlanta Normally After Suspicious Substance Scare
Atlanta Fire Rescue spokeswoman says a "non threatening" amount of a salt has been discovered on the tracks.

The AMTRAK train that was temporarily stopped in Atlanta when a suspicious substance was discovered on the tracks has resumed its journey, a spokeswoman told Patch Thursday night.
The Southern Crescent was delayed at 8 p.m. but got going again at 9:45 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
The substance discovered on railroad tracks near the AMTRAK station in Buckhead on Thursday evening was not dangerous, an Atlanta Fire Rescue spokeswoman said.

Janet Ward said that a βnon-threateningβ amount of the salt strontium chloride had been discovered, and added that the salt is not toxic or dangerous.
Atlanta police said that Peachtree Street and Deering Road were blocked while fire crews determined the origin of the substance.
