According to WSB-TV, the woman who owned the Jeep was putting the gas cap back on after filling up the tank at the RaceTrac on Marietta Boulevard when the thief jumped into the passenger seat, locked the doors of the Jeep, and drove off.
The next day, an East Point police officer was injured by the Jeep in the parking lot of a nearby Walmart, WSB-TV says. Police gave chase, and the pursuit made its way through the airport before as many as six suspects bailed out of the Jeep on Bolton Road and holed up in a nearby apartment complex.
