Trump Remarks Get Him Disinvited From Conservative Forum in Atlanta

Attack on Megyn Kelly.

GOP Presidential Primary frontrunner Donald Trump was disinvited from a forum this weekend in Atlanta because of controversial comments about Fox News host Megyn Kelly.

The RedState Gathering event this weekend in Atlanta is expected to bring several of the GOP presidential hopefuls. Trump was expected to address RedState attendees on Saturday.

Kelly was one of the moderators Thursday of the first primary debate for the 2016 primary race, and she pressed Trump on his past comments about women and his shifting positions on issues, including abortion.

“You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes,” Trump told CNN’s Don Lemon during an interview Friday night. “Blood was coming out of her wherever.”

In a statement on his Twitter feed, Trump said he meant that blood was coming from Kelly’s nose, but Erickson and others believed it was a reference to menstruation.

“As much as I do personally like Donald Trump, his comment about Megyn Kelly on CNN is a bridge too far for me,” organizer Erick Erickson said in a post late Friday night.

A Trump spokesman told Time in a statement that the candidate will still make the trip to Atlanta and hold an event at another location.

“This is just another example of weakness through being politically correct,” the statement read. ”For all of the people who were looking forward to Mr. Trump coming, we will miss you. Blame Erick Erickson, your weak and pathetic leader.”
