According to the advertisement, which can be found on WSB-TV and other news sites, the poster of the advertisement claims she is six months pregnant but is sure she does not want to keep the baby. The ad claims the unborn child will be “guaranteed white,” causing the mother to insist that potential buyers “don’t come at me cheap.”

The Atlanta Police Department released the following statement regarding the advertisement:

Hundreds of you reported a Craigslist ad with a photo of a woman claiming to want to sell her unborn child for drugs. Please know we have turned this case over to the GBI for further investigation. They are trying to determine where the posting is actually taking place and if it is indeed true. Just because it says Atlanta, the actual poster could be anywhere. We appreciate your vigilance on matters such as these, however although highly disturbing and suspicious, no law has been broken yet. Please continue to press Craigslist to discontinue the use of their site for ads such as these.

The GBI tells WSB-TV that they have already received a deluge of tips from concerned citizens and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The bureau adds that if the advertisement turns out to be a hoax, the person who posted it could possibly avoid charges altogether.
