Westminster Debate Team Wins Tournament of Champions

The Westminster Schools debate team won the Tournament of Champions (TOC)—the premier national championship for high school policy debate.

The Westminster Schools debate team won the Tournament of Champions (TOC)—the premier national championship for high school policy debate—which was held April 25-27 at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

Seniors Saul Forman and Naman Gupta won the TOC finals on a 3-0 decision, and Forman was named top speaker for the competition. In the highly selective 2015 tournament, only 152 high school debate students from 16 states qualified to compete in the policy division. The students, organized in two-person teams, addressed the topic: “Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its non-military exploration and/or development of the Earth’s oceans.”

For the second year in a row, Westminster led the nation in qualifying bids upon entering the Tournament of Champions. For more information about the Westminster debate team, visit westminster.net/debate.
