Westminster Football Coach To Receive Award from Touchdown Club of Atlanta

ATLANTA – The Touchdown Club of Atlanta (TCA) will honor Westminster Head Football Coach Gerry Romberg at its annual awards banquet on Thursday, January 28, 2016. Romberg will be recognized as Georgia High School Coach of the Year and honored for winning the 2015 AAA football state championship.

Romberg has served as Westminster’s football coach for 24 seasons. In 2009, he became the winningest coach in Westminster’s history, and he has amassed 19 trips to the playoffs during his tenure at the School. Prior to leading the football program at Westminster, Romberg coached at public and private high schools, as well as at the college level at The Citadel and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

The TCA event, which is held in conjunction with the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic, will take place at the Atlanta Holiday Inn-Perimeter, located at 4386 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd. Additional awards and recognition to be given include:

• Bobby Dodd National High School Quarterback of the Year: Jacob Eason
• Bobby Dodd National Lineman of the Year: Rashaun Gary
• 2015 Metro Atlanta All-Star Team, which includes Westminster senior Blake Gillikin (PK)
• 200+ game-winning high school coaches
