Where to Find Snow Near Atlanta
It's been a mild winter in Atlanta, but don't pack up the snow boots just yet. Here are some ideas for snow fun close by.

This has been a very mild winter in Atlanta. The kids were hoping for some snow (and maybe a day off from school). A quick look at the weather patterns for February shows we are probably not going to get any snow in Atlanta this year, but that doesn't mean you have to put the gloves and boots away just yet. Here are three places to see snow near Atlanta.
Snow Mountain, Stone Mountain, Ga. Through February 26, Stone Mountain Park is transformed into Snow Mountain. Race your kids down the tubing run, or go as a family in the larger tubes. Dress your snow man from the snowman closet or see if you can hit the target with a snowball. And when you are done - head over to play a little mini-golf, sans gloves.
Beech Mountain, NC. Within a gas-tank's drive of Atlanta is Beech Mountain Ski Resort. At 5,506 feet, it's the highest resort in the east, which means you have a good chance of some real snow. But if not, they do make snow when the conditions are right. Whether you want to ski Beech, or just play in the snow, these advantages work together to make it a brilliant choice for a winter family vacation. Beech isn't the only place to skiing close by, here is a list of six more drivable ski resorts.

Snow Tubing, NC. Not a skier and looking for something a little more than Snow Mountain? Our neighbors in North Carolina have you covered with multiple snow tubing outlets. Plus, Mother Nature doesn’t have to cover the ground in white stuff, most of these resorts can do that on their own.
Breckenridge, CO. If you really want to see the lots of snow, hop a plane out to Breckenridge, CO. It's easy to get direct flights to Denver, and then it's a short drive to this authentic old west mining town turned ski resort. Whether you ski or not, you'll find lots of outdoor snowy fun from winter hikes to sleigh rides, ice skating and fat bike trails.
