• 17 Mitchell County residents convicted in nearly $500K PPP fraud case (walb.com) — Camilla residents may recognize some of the 17 locals who have now pleaded guilty in Mitchell County Superior Court for fraudulently obtaining nearly $500,000 in COVID-era PPP loans. All defendants, who falsely claimed to run affected businesses, received 10 years' probation, must repay the money, and complete community service, while investigators continue probing additional related cases.
