At Least 1 Dog Rescued In Canton Apartment Blaze

CANTON, GA — At least one dog is safe after an apartment fire left multiple people displaced Saturday afternoon in Canton, according to Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

The fire ignited around 2 p.m. at Accent Overlook Apartments near Hospital Road.

When they arrived, fire officials said crews began aggressively attacking the blaze and evacuating residents.

Firefighters were able to quickly control the blaze and rescue at least one dog from the impacted apartment, fire officials said. No one was injured in the fire, they added.

The official cause has not yet been determined; however, fire officials said bystanders reported seeing a lightning strike hit the building prior to the fire.

Officials said they have not yet determined how many people were displaced.
