With a new $70 million Canton water plant and road projects along Hickory Flat, officials are clearly planning for more rooftops, but builders say labor shortages and permitting delays are now the real bottlenecks for Canton-area projects.
• Why a fourth Cherokee County deputy was just booked into jail (fox5atlanta.com) — A former Cherokee County deputy from Waleska was arrested in Canton after investigators said he repeatedly misused the sheriff's license plate reader system for non-law-enforcement searches. He's the fourth deputy charged in such a case, prompting tighter audits, limited access, and added training on surveillance technology across the sheriff's office.
• Levon Mulkey (polktoday.com) — A 91-year-old U.S. Army veteran will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at a private memorial service to be scheduled later. Family and friends can share condolences online as they remember his long life, military service, and surviving children and grandchildren.
