R&M to Continue Serving Hoagies—For Now

The building is going up for sale on Wednesday, but that isn't the hoagie shop's last day in business.

When stories about circulated on social media, Mike DeLuca started getting calls, emails and Facebook messages from supporters of the business his mother and late father started on March 20, 1972.

They assumed that Wednesday would be the downtown landmark's last day serving up steak hoagies to generations of Canton residents.

Not so, DeLuca said.

But for now, business will continue as usual just as it has at Progressive Skate Park, which DeLuca has been trying to sell since 2008.

MIKE DELUCA'S STATEMENT

DeLuca issued the following statement on R&M's Facebook page today:

OK folks, it looks like I opened a can of worms. Let me try and claify a few things. The (Tribune) contacted me to do a story after hearing at a City Council meeting that we may be closing our doors. (Kristal Dixon) at the Tribune printed what we talked about, she didn't do anything wrong at all. I wasn't happy with the headline but in the scheme of things it could be (interpreted) that way. Please don't hold the Tribune responsible for my actions. I believe many people are concerned that we were shutting (our) doors on wednesday, (we're) not, we will continue to operate but the possibility of closing in the future is still out there
