Sgt. McEntyre Retires From Cherokee Fire Department
Sgt. Steven McEntyre, a firefighter with Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, has retired after 20 years of service.

CANTON, GA — Sgt. Steven McEntyre, a firefighter with Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, was recognized Tuesday at a retirement ceremony held in his honor at Fire Station No. 9 in North Canton.
Fire Chief Tim Prather thanked McEntyre for his 20 years of service to the citizens of Cherokee County and presented him with a “bugle” award. The bugle, or speaking trumpet, is a reference to a megaphone-like device that was used in the early days of the fire service.
McEntyre came to work with the fire department on May 14, 2001, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Aug. 3, 2003. McEntyre was promoted to back-up medcon on April 15, 2013 and on March 24, 2019, he was promoted to medcon. McEntyre’s official retirement date was Aug. 2.

McEntyre lives in Waleska with his wife, Karri, and their two children, Whitney, who is an ER nurse at Northside Hospital and Connor, who is a freshman at Reinhardt University.
