2017 Bartow County Fair Returns Wednesday

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The fall season has officially arrived (despite our thermometers saying otherwise) in North Georgia, and that means a few things for many of us who savor this time of the year. The 2017 Bartow County Fair will kick off Tuesday, Sept. 27 and run through Sunday, Oct. 1, providing several days of family-friendly entertainment to area residents.

The 71st annual fair, sponsored by Cartersville-based American Legion Post 42, will be held at the American Legion Fairgrounds at 1 Roosevelt Street. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and admission is $5 for everyone more than 42 inches tall.

Along with the traditional rides, displays, booths, contests and games, residents will also be able to explore a petting zoo, duck and pig races and even sip some suds in a beer garden. A raffle for a grand prize drawing for a 2017 Honda Fit or $10,000, $500 for second place and $100 for third place will be held on the main stage at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30. There are only 250 raffle tickets available at $100 each, and they can be purchased at the American Legion's Post Lounge Monday through Saturday from 2:30 p.m. to closing time.
