5 Guns, Binoculars Stolen From Truck In Cartersville
Bartow sheriff's deputies recovered some of the stolen items while investigating a burglary at a car wash.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Several guns and a set of binoculars were taken from a truck during an entering auto reported Sunday morning in Bartow County. A deputy with the Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the call around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, June 10 at 516 Grassdale Road.
The deputy arrived and spoke with a resident, who said the back window of his personal truck had been smashed and five guns and a pair of binoculars were stolen from the vehicle. His work vehicle, which was also entered into, did not appear to have anything removed from it at the time of the report, the sheriff's office said.
"He stated someone got inside the vehicle without causing any damage to the locking mechanism and rummaged through all the tools and items inside the vehicle," the incident report states.

The cost to repair the damage done to the personal truck was estimated to be around $200. Stolen from that vehicle were a Browning .22/.250 A-Bolt with Leupold variable power scope; Henry .17 HMR Lever Action rifle; Browning Lightning Field 12 Gauge Over/Under shotgun with gold inlay; Heckler and Koch P7 .40 caliber long slide pistol; Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 caliber pistol; and Leupold 42 mm binoculars.
It appeared the subject first tried to open the personal truck's rear sliding window, leaving behind multiple fingerprints and palm prints in the process, according to the report.

Some of those items stolen from the truck were discovered during an investigation into a burglary at All Washed Up car wash at 28 Boyd Morris Drive in Cartersville, according to another incident report released by the sheriff's office.
A deputy was dispatched to the business around 5:07 p.m. June 10 and saw two subjects, later identified as Shelby Amanda Wacaster and Alan Joseph Hartsfield, standing near the second car wash bay. Hartsfield was allegedly kneeling down with his arm in the vacuum area closest to the automatic car wash. As he pulled into the parking lot, Wacaster said something to Hartsfield, who turned around and saw the patrol vehicle, the deputy wrote in his report.
"Alan removed his arm from the vacuum station, kicked off his flip-flops, dropped his black backpack and began to flee up Boyd Morris Drive in the direction of Joe Frank Harris Parkway," the report adds.
The deputy pursued Hartsfield, who ran into the woodline and eventually got tangled in the undergrowth and fell to the ground. He was captured by the deputy and brought back to the patrol car where he was detained. Wacaster was also detained, and the deputy was patched through to the person who made the call to report the burglary.
That resident said he was traveling on Boyd Morris when he saw the pair "messing with the payment point." Wacaster was allegedly keeping an eye out on traffic while Hartsfield was "sticking his hands into the payment point." The resident called 9-1-1 to report the activity.
A search of the backpack revealed some of the items stolen from the entering auto incident on Grassdale Road: a pair of Leupold 42 mm binoculars, a Stealth Cam Trail Camera and a black monocular. The Bartow County Sheriff's Office detective looking into the entering auto case told Patch the firearms are still missing, and the incident remains under investigation.

Wacaster and Hartsfield were booked into the Bartow County Jail Sunday evening. Wacaster, of Cartersville, was charged with theft by receiving stolen property; crossing the guard line with weapons, intoxicants or drugs; possession and use of drug-related objects; possession of methamphetamine and burglary. She remains held on a $20,000 bond.
Hartsfield, also of Cartersville, was charged with three counts of entering auto; probation violation; obstruction; theft by receiving stolen property; crossing the guard line with weapons, intoxicants or drugs; possession and use of drug-related objects; possession of methamphetamine; and burglary. He remains held without bond.
