Downtown 9/11 Remembrance Set

To be held at 4 p.m. on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorists attacks, the ceremony will include a wreath laying and other points of tribute.

A community program to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists attacks will honor not only firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel, but all those who lost their lives and were affected by the events.

“This program is not just about sacrifice of first responders but about the sacrifice of our country, citizen and responders,” said Chief Scott Carter.

Coordinated by the department's Honor Guard, the special program is set for Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. in Friendship Plaza on the square near in downtown Cartersville.

According to Carter, it will feature music selections from the chorus and the band; a presentation by a joint public safety honor including members from , and others.

The program will include the placement of a wreath in remembrance of the lives lost Sept. 11, 2001, along with other meaningful points of tribute, Carter said. Emergency responders, military personnel and citizens are welcomed to attend.
