Allatoona Lake Trailheads Close For Managed Deer Hunt

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Tuesday that its Allatoona Lake Project has closed the Vineyard Mountain Trail due to scheduled hunting activities in the area.

The trailheads, which closed Dec. 1, are located at Riverside Day Use Area and Bethany Bridge. They will be closed through Dec. 31 for archery-only deer hunting, said Christopher Purvis, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lead ranger at Allatoona Lake.
This initiative is open to current Allatoona Lake hunting permit holders only, Purvis added.

Hikers should schedule their activities at other nearby locations such as Cooper’s Furnace Trail, Pine Mountain Trail, or the trails at Red Top Mountain State Park.
