Alleged Identity Thief Arrested in Texas

A man who is accused of stealing the identity of an Adarisville resident was captured last week in Texas.
Adairsville interim Police Chief Arnold E. Gillman on Monday announced Kacey D. Peterson, 37, of Katy, Texas, was arrested last week in the Lone Star State.
Lt. Matt Fowler with the Adairsville Police Department said Peterson was arrested on or around July 31.

Gillman added Adairsville detectives were working with Texas officials to secure Peterson’s apprehension.
Peterson was wanted by Adairsville police for allegedly stealing a local resident’s identity and “using his identity to fraudulently obtain goods and services,” Gillman stated.

Fowler added the alleged crime originally occurred in January, but the agency wasn’t made aware of the incident until July 15.
Peterson is awaiting extradition back to Georgia to face identity fraud charges. Gillman added that his agency “takes identity fraud very seriously and that his investigators will track down those who will attempt to ruin a person’s life through this particularly heinous form of fraud.”
