1. You can explore a 1,000-year-old city on this quiet stretch of the Etowah River (wheninyourstate.com) — Just outside Cartersville, you can spend a day exploring the Etowah Indian Mounds, a remarkably preserved 1,000-year-old Indigenous city along the Etowah River. The site offers towering earthen mounds, riverside trails, a fish weir, and a museum shaped with Muscogee (Creek) partners, all open daily with modest admission and easy access from 813 Indian Mounds Road SE.
2. Thor Equities Plans $1B Data Center In North Georgia: The Atlanta Deal Sheet (bisnow.com) — A proposed $1 billion data center just north of Cartersville could reshape the local economy, bringing 50 full-time jobs, significant tax revenue, and major new water and power demands to Bartow County. The Kingston Technology Hub project, planned off Georgia 293, is under state review and would sit within Kingston city limits while influencing growth across the Cartersville area.
3. Cartersville Country Club golfers qualify for USGA Mid-Amateur (bartowsportszone.com) — Cartersville golf fans can cheer on a hometown connection as Cartersville Country Club member R.B. Clyburn has earned first alternate status for the 2026 USGA Mid-Amateur Championship, while Atlanta's Lee Bowman qualified outright. The national event in Wisconsin will feature 264 top amateurs, with stroke play starting September 26 and match play for the top 64 through October 1.
4. How this Georgia factory is surviving solar policy whiplash (marketplace.org) — Cartersville's massive QCells factory, a $2.5 billion investment, is at the center of America's push to build more solar panels domestically despite fast-changing federal policies and tariffs. Local production of wafers and cells supports jobs and industry here, but shifting Trump and Biden-era incentives create uncertainty for the plant's long-term economics and for developers buying its panels nationwide.
