• Two shot, one dead in Bartow County; suspect arrested (wsbtv.com) — A deadly shooting at a Cartersville home on Hamilton Boulevard left one man dead and a woman hospitalized, and deputies arrested 34-year-old Jamal Davis at the scene. Bartow County investigators are still piecing together what happened, and additional charges are expected as they continue the case.
• Home runs fuel Cartersville win; Cass rallies past Dalton (bartowsportszone.com) — Cartersville's top-ranked softball team crushed Woodland 12-0 at Dellinger Park, powered by home runs from LaKiaya Banks and Taryn Bradley, and will host Kell today before finishing the regular season at Cass Thursday. Cass also edged Dalton 3-2, setting up a big regular-season finale against visiting Cartersville that will help shape the Class 5A state playoff field.
• A new crop of solar panels is the US' best hope of catching China (hawaiitribune-herald.com subscription) — Cartersville gets a brief spotlight as Hanwha Qcells invests billions in new solar manufacturing lines in Georgia, including a facility north of Atlanta that could support local jobs. The broader story explains how new "tandem" solar panels might help U.S. producers challenge China's dominance and meet rising electricity demand more efficiently.
