CARTERSVILLE, GA — The annual Duck Derby events held on May 12 at LakePoint Sporting Complex in Emerson brought in more than $100,000 to fund efforts to combat child abuse in Bartow County.

That's according to Advocates for Children, which released the latest figures from the annual events. The organization's annual event sold 18,016 ducks for the Duck Derby and had 110 runners take part in the Duck Dash 5K and Fun Run. In all, the duck-themed events at LakePoint's Terminus Wake Park raised more than $108,000.

For the past 16 years, the Duck Derby fundraiser has provided a "source of community bonding and outdoor fun, and it would not have been possible without the support of our local community," Advocates for Children said in its June newsletter roundup.
