Arts Festival at Rose Lawn Returns To Cartersville

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- For the past four decades, the Arts Festival at Rose Lawn has become well-known for having the best in fine arts and heritage crafts. As the festival readies to celebrate its 42nd year this weekend, planners assure visitors there’s many new artists and entertainers to be discovered

This year's festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 on the grounds of the Rose Lawn Museum in Cartersville. The juried festival will have 150 artists and food vendors selected from across the southeast. Famous for its potters, the festival also offers jewelry artisans, wood crafters, painters, photographers, beekeepers, seamstresses, quilters and more.

Juried artists compete for $1,000 in prizes, with seven awards presented Saturday at 1 p.m. The ceremony will also feature the Hospitality Heroes Awards and the prestigious People’s Choice Awards for Best Restaurant, Best Shoppe, and Best Attraction, presented by festival sponsor Cartersville-Bartow County Convention Visitors Bureau (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Festival entertainment will include Cartersville Gymnastics, Steps of Faith, Cartersville City Ballet, Spirit of Dance, Carmen and Terry Jordan, Team Twist – Championship Karate, and Sarah Garber, all performing on Saturday. Featured musicians Scarlet Wool will take the stage at 1:30 p.m. Saturday following the awards ceremony. Sunday’s entertainment includes Kerry’s School of Dance, Church at Liberty Square singers and dancers, Still Friends, and Mary Blasengame.

Guests can also take a guided tour inside Historic Rose Lawn Museum. Rose Lawn was home to Reverend Sam Jones, who was thought to be the most famous and celebrated evangelist of his time. His style, wit and compelling delivery attracted a national congregation. Inside guests can learn about Jones’ legacy, while outside blooms many varieties of roses passed down from Sam’s wife Laura. Also on the grounds is the Rose Lawn Schoolhouse where the Jones’ children were educated and the Rose Lawn Carriage House, which today is a rustic wedding and special events venue.

Hosted by the Bartow County government, the Arts Festival at Rose Lawn is open free of charge. Museum tours are $7 per person. Rose Lawn is located at 224 West Cherokee Avenue in Cartersville. Free shuttle service is available from parking areas at the Frank Moore Building on Cherokee Avenue, and from the School Street parking area adjacent to the Bartow County Library.
