ATLANTA LAW FIRM PARTNERS WITH JOSEPH BLAKE EVANS WITH OPENING OF NEW OFFICE IN DALTON

ATLANTA­ (October 21, 2013) ­– Building on its success in Atlanta and Washington D.C., The Federal Firm, LLC, is expanding into northwest Georgia by opening a new branch office in Dalton, Georgia. Joseph Blake Evans, the former partner of Warren Coppedge in the firm of Coppedge & Evans in Dalton, is the new managing partner of The Federal Firm’s Dalton office, located at 710 S. Thornton Ave., Suite 1250.

Mr. Evans has practiced general litigation for the past ten years and specializes in commercial and business disputes, personal injury and death cases, professional negligence, and insurance claims. Ms. Vernett McGill, a certified paralegal, and Ms. Lisa Miller, a veteran legal assistant, have also joined Mr. Evans from the Coppedge & Evans offices.

The founder and Senior Partner of The Federal Firm is Hon. Keegan Federal, a former Superior Court Judge who was elected in 1976, at the age of 33, and served eight years in the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. After leaving the bench in1984, he represented the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspapers and WSB-TV in First Amendment cases, and then opened his own trial practice firm in 1987. That firm, now known as The Federal Firm, has ten trial lawyers in its Atlanta office.

 “When we learned that Joseph Blake Evans might be available, we immediately pursued him and convinced him to partner with us in opening the Dalton office,” said Judge Federal. “I’ve known Joseph for over 15 years, and he’s absolutely one of the finest lawyers in the area. He was tutored by perhaps the best lawyer in Dalton, Warren Coppedge, and we think that by combining forces, we will be able to provide significant back-up and support to Joseph and he will then be even more able to assist the people of northwest Georgia with their legal issues.”

Mr. Evans, a native of Calhoun, Georgia, received his Bachelor of Arts degree and Juris Doctor law degree from the University of Georgia, graduating with Honors. He has been practicing general litigation since 2003 with a specialization in commercial and business disputes, personal injury and wrongful death cases, professional negligence claims, and other tort and contract matters. Mr. Evans will manage the Dalton office and will have the added benefit of the experience and expertise provided by The Federal Firm’s lawyers in the Atlanta and Washington, D.C., offices.
