Autopsy Pending For Man Found Dead at Cartersville Hotel

It could be several more weeks before the cause of death is determined for the man who was found deceased last week at a Cartersville hotel.

Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton on Tuesday told Patch that the autopsy results for Richard Linwood Hilton are ”pending” toxicology and other tests, which have to be completed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab.

Richard Linwood Hilton was discovered Aug 3. unresponsive beside the pool at Knights Inn, located at 420 East Church Street.

Cartersville officers and Bartow County Emergency Medical Services crews responded just after 7 p.m. to the hotel’s pool area where they found Hilton, who showed “no signs of life,” Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran previously said.

“I also noticed a white male laying on his back on the side of the pool that was partially covered by a white sheet,” the responding Cartersville officer wrote in his report.

Both Cartersville police and the Bartow County coroner continue to investigate the death.
