Bartow Sheriff's Deputy Dies While On Duty

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The community is mourning the loss of a deputy with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office who died over the weekend while on duty.

Jennifer Dawn New died Saturday, June 30, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine an exact cause of death, said Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton.

Little information has been released surrounding New's passing. The Kingston Police Department noted New "became ill at work and was transported to the hospital."

"Our condolences to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and the deputies family on the loss of Deputy Jennifer Dawn New," the agency said Saturday evening on its Facebook page. "Keep the family in your prayers. R.I.P. Deputy New #830."
