Here are the top stories today in Cartersville:
- The Cartersville-Bartow County Department of Economic Development is looking towards the continuation of development plans proposed or started in 2022. Among those are the Hyundai Motor Group and SK On's proposed electric vehicle battery facility on the Bartow/Floyd County line, which is predicted to bring secondary businesses to the area. Approximately 15,000 acres along the Highway 411 and Highway 20 junction is expected to be rezoned for a "planned greenspace development district." The Rome-Cartersville Development Corridor and other building announcements from major investors are planned throughout the county to begin or continue in 2023. (Daily Tribune News)
- The Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2022 IMPACT Award winners. These five elite young professionals include Nick Barnett, businessman and charter member president of the Bartow County Lions Club; Amanda Tant, vice president of Advocates for Children; Katie Gobbi, Euharlee's community development director; Bobbie Bruton, instructional lead teacher at Cartersville Elementary; and Michael Kobito, 2023's Georgia Teacher of the Year. Eligible IMPACT Award candidates need to be younger than 40 as of Sept. 30th and employed by a Chamber member organization. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
- Cartersville native Lt. Jesus Lombarti is assigned to the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. The USS Abraham Lincoln is currently underway conducting routine operations in U.S. 3rd Fleet. (wbhfradio.org)
