BBQ & Blues, May Market Festivals Return To Bartow County

Adairsville's BBQ festival will be held Saturday, May 5 while the May Market at Rose Lawn Festival is set for May 5-6 in Cartersville.

BARTOW COUNTY, GA — Two popular events will return to Bartow County this weekend, providing residents a chance to get out and enjoy the springtime weather with their friends and loved ones.

First up is the Adairsville BBQ & Blues Festival, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 5 at Logtown at 201 S. Main Street. A car cruise-in will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Public Square.

The festival will include a Backyard BBQ competition, food, vendors and live music. The BBQ People’s Choice Contest begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are $5, and will benefit the Cheryl Painter Scholarship Fund and Cancer Navigators, both charities chosen by festival host, city of Adairsville.

Musical guests include Chloe Litton & The Ancientz, Pea Valley Flyers, The Donny Hammonds Band, Whiskey Dixie, The Jesse Williams Band, Garrett Wheeler, Hunter Flanagan and GrayWater. Be sure to check out the Adairsville BBQ & Blues Festival's Facebook page for details about Saturday's event.

If you want something a little more laid back, the May Market at Rose Lawn Festival will set up shop this weekend in Cartersville. This two-day arts and crafts festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 5 and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 6 on the grounds of the Rose Lawn Museum, the Victorian home of evangelist Samuel Porter Jones.

The two-day event includes 85 booths, performing arts and entertainment, Master Gardeners Plant Sale, and delicious food. Tours of Rose Lawn Museum cost $7, and will explore the Rev. Jones's ties to U.S. presidents and Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.

Featured entertainers are Scarlet Wool (Saturday at 1:30 p.m.) and the Vintage Vixens (Sunday at 2:30 p.m.). Before the festival gets underway, the History Hustle 5K will begin at 8 p.m. Saturday. Race-day registration for the event, sponsored by the Rose Law and Bartow History museums, will cost $30 and begins at 6:30 a.m.

The Rose Lawn is located at 224 West Cherokee Avenue in Cartersville. Free shuttle service will be available from parking areas at 320 West Cherokee Avenue and 135 West Cherokee Avenue. You can learn more about the May Market at Rose Lawn by visiting the event's website.
