Bicyclist Injured In Cartersville Accident

A bicyclists was hit by a truck Sunday evening at the intersection of Joe Frank Harris Parkway and Grassdale Road, police said.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A bicyclist was injured earlier this week in an accident at a major intersection in Cartersville. Officers with the Cartersville Police Department were dispatched to the crash at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 on Grassdale Road at Joe Frank Harris Parkway/U.S. 41/Ga. 3.

According to an accident report released Friday by Cartersville police, a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling westbound in the intersection when a person on the bike veered into the truck's lane of travel.

The driver of the truck, Kolby Reece Adams, 18, of Cartersville, said he was driving through the intersection when the bicyclist "darted out in front of him."

A witness at the scene told police the bicycle crossed the intersection in front of the truck and "was not visible until impact." Another person interviewed by police said there was "nothing" the Chevrolet could have done to avoid the collision, according to the report.

The bicyclist, identified as Jeffrey Caleb Finn, 26, of Charleston, Tennessee, was unable to provide a statement due to the injuries he suffered in the crash. He was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment, the report indicates. The report indicates the bicyclist is suspected to be at fault in the collision.
