Autopsy Planned For Body Found Along I-75 In Bartow County
The Bartow County coroner said it appears the male was hit by a vehicle. The GBI is assisting Emerson police with its investigation.

EMERSON, GA — Police are working to determine the cause and manner of death for the man whose body was found Wednesday morning along Interstate 75 in Bartow County. The Emerson Police Department requested the help of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation around 8 a.m. Jan. 10 following the discovery made on the northbound side near mile marker 282.
Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton said the male had obvious signs of trauma on his body and that it appears he was hit by a vehicle. GBI spokesperson Nelly Miles told Patch the agency is assisting with the investigation into the death of the victim, who is described as a white male. His identity remains unknown at this time.
"At this time, we are not releasing any additional information until positive identification from the crime lab is made and after the autopsy is conducted," she said. "As of now, we are conducting a death investigation until a determination is made on the cause of death."

The autopsy will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 11 at the GBI's Medical Examiner's Office, she added. Along with the GBI, the Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team and Cartersville Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
