Body Found In House Fire Identified

The fire destroyed the home on Hendricks Drive overnight Sunday in unincorporated Cartersville.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A GoFundMe page has been created to help take care of expenses for the family of the man whose body was recovered from a house fire early Sunday morning.

The Stephen Hendricks Funeral & Support Page is seeking to raise $10,000 for the victim's loved ones.

"Late last night we got the worst news possible," wrote sister Brittany Hendricks. "My parents house was in flames and my brother was inside. It took them 7 hours to put the fire out and sadly my brother didn't make it."

Bartow County fire crews were dispatched around 1:05 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 to the home on Hendricks Drive in unincorporated Cartersville.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the home "fully involved," with heavy smoke and flames coming from the door and windows of the structure, Bartow County Fire Chief Craig Millsap previously told Patch.

Crews also discovered the body of the man who has not officially been identified, but family and friends all say was Stephen Jarred Hendricks, 25, of Rydal.

According to his Facebook page, Hendricks was employed with Toyo Tires and attended Adairsville High School.

His sister notes her brother, who had a four-year-old daughter, was a "good man, had a good heart and would help anyone."

The fire destroyed the home, and Hendricks' parents have lost everything in the blaze.

"They drive trucks over the road and we're not home when this tragedy happened," she added. "They literally have nothing. Nothing could be salvaged from the home and we need to arrange funeral services for my brother and help my parents with clothes (and) money to get a place to stay."
