Fishermen Find Body In Lake Allatoona: Police
The discovery was made Wednesday afternoon near the Interstate 75 overpass.
CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Authorities in Bartow County found a body Wednesday afternoon in Lake Allatoona.
That's according to Mark McKinnon, spokesperson with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division, who added the Bartow County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation.
The sheriff's office said the body was discovered around 1:30 p.m. near the Interstate 75 overpass. Fisherman in a boat spotted the body and contacted authorities, the agency said.

Along with sheriff's deputies, Bartow County Fire Department, Bartow EMS, DNR and the Coroner's Office all responded to the scene to aid in the investigation and recover the body from the water.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Return to Patch for updates.
