Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:
- Thirty-three-year-old Joshua Taylor Eaker is charged with causing a fatal accident in May. Judge Suzanne Smith set his bond at $1 million dollars. Jailed on May 17 on numerous charges, Eaker led Bartow Sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase that ended with a pit maneuver. Eaker's truck struck an ATV operated by 48-year-old Dustin Cody Thomas of Calhoun. Thomas was fatally injured. (WBHF via Facebook)
- The City of Cartersville concluded the 2022 fiscal year with $30,799,182 in total revenues — when the projected budget was just $27.7 million. Conversely, the city's general fund expenditures also surpassed expectations. Total expenditures at fiscal year's end came in at $29,873,769, although $27,783,465 in expenses were planned. - With an announcement on social media, Cartersville's offensive lineman Johnathan Cline, pledged to Gus Malzahn's UCF Knights. Cline joins Brunswick's Jamal Merriweather as the only other offensive lineman in the '23 class. (Orlando Sentinel)
