Booth Announces First People's Choice Award

Early this month, the opened the first Booth Artists Guild Biennial Exhibition, and it recently awarded the first People’s Choice Award to Alabama artist Taylor White.  

Created in 2010, the Booth Artists Guild offers continued art education to artists of all levels and experience. Meeting monthly, the BAG is an excellent way for members to network with fellow artists.

BAG members have an opportunity to have their work on display at the Booth in a biennial exhibition which is for BAG members only. The first-ever installment of the BAG Biennial Exhibition has been a great success, officials say.

“I am amazed at the scope of talent we have within the Booth Museum family and have been incredibly pleased by the response we’ve seen from visitors to the exhibit” said Booth Museum Volunteer Coordinator and BAG Organizer Marcia Dillard. “The Opening Reception for the exhibition was held on Thursday, June 16, and we had more than 100 people in attendance. Lots of people have commented on how great of an exhibit it truly is – it’s such a wide sampling of artistic talent, mediums and themes.”

At the reception, all those in attendance were asked to vote for their favorite piece in the exhibition. More than 100 votes were cast, and in the end, the first People’s Choice Award went to White for her piece, Summer Velvet.

The Booth Artists Guild Biennial Exhibition is on view through Sept. 11 in the Borderlands Gallery.
