Birds Of Bartow County ~ Eastern Bluebird

Hi, my name is Jean and I am addicted to Bird Watching. Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing the antics of a Carolina Chickadee or a pair of Brown-headed Nuthatches at the suet feeder or hearing the smooth, soothing, gentle song of an Eastern Bluebird.

I have often been asked what bird is my favorite. That is a very tough question for me to answer since I  enjoy seeing all our native birds. However….if you have ever had the pleasure of hosting a pair of Eastern Bluebirds let me warn you….they will take hold of your heart and not let go. They are that special. That is why they have been immortalized in songs and in collectibles. Who hasn’t heard of  “Bluebird of Happiness.“ Native Americans were charmed by them and would hang up gourd houses for them. It didn’t hurt that their diet is mainly insects. What gardener or homeowner wouldn’t like some eco-friendly help at keeping the bad bug population down?
