Cartersville K-Mart Closing
Cartersville K-Mart Closing - another casualty of mismanagement at Sears Holding
Executives lowered the boom on the employees at the local K-Mart store earlier today by announcing the Cartersville store's closing in January, 2013.
Furthermore, they informed the employees that they would not be eligible to transfer to other stores. This tactic is obviously a way to screw long-term employees out of their pension plan as the company moves to significantly trim labor costs by moving to a part-time workforce that they aren't liable for pension costs, healthcare costs and additional taxes and other costs imposed by Obamacare for full-time employees.
K-Mart, a subsidiary of Sears Holding, has been wideley critizied in national and regional business publications for not investing in its retail stores by updating and refrshing the stores to compete with Wal-Mart and Target who re-invest in their stores to draw business.
