Mother's Day Bird Sightings

My son and I shared a special Mother's Day bird watching.

Yesterday I drove to Atlanta to celebrate Mother's Day with my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. Had a super great visit...but didn't see any notable birds.  Today...my son drove up from middle Georgia and we did see some cool birds. I showed him the Eastern Bluebird nestlings. They should fledge later this week. A couple of American Robins gave us a show in the bird bath plus my son got to add Indigo Bunting to his Life List. (A Life List is what Birders call the list of birds they have seen thoughout their life.) Before he took me to a very yummy lunch at Johnny Mitchell's Smokehouse in Euharlee, we visited the swamp on Hardin Bridge Road. A Great Blue Heron was very intent on catching his/her own lunch. The swamp is a great place to bird watch. A few weeks ago I was able to add American Coot to my Life List. I hope all moms had as wonderful of a Mother's Day as I did!!!
