The Unthinkable Is Now Thinkable

Whatever it takes, and whatever the cost.

May God bless the souls of the victims of yesterday's shooting tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut.  May bands of benevolent Angels surround them with unconditional love and heal their spirits.  May their families ultimately find peace.  Shocking carnage of this type, once thought to be an aberation are now becoming far too commonplace.  Once believed to be so beyond the pale of events that could happen, we have hopefully now learned a terrible lesson.  It has happened again.  Columbine, Pearl, Virginia Tech, and now Newtown.

There is some evil confluence of time and space that must come together in the sickened and warped minds of those who would perpetrate such an act, and we as a society must do what it takes to see that it doesn't happen in our community.  Possibly the simplest solution is to place trained and armed police officers in every school in our community, along with the necessary resources to carry out their duties.  Safety and security must be the first consideration with zero  thought to how much it may cost. We can't allow it to happen as it has happened, with frightening regularity in other areas.  Sheriff Millsap has his people trained to respond effectively to any situation where there is an active shooting incident.  This reactive response, while most assuredly neutralizing the perpetrator will likely be too late to prevent the perpetrator from carrying out his mission from hell.

It had never happened in Columbine or Newtown either.  And then it came, with all its death and horror.  We can take the steps to minimize the chance that the unthinkable will ever happen here.
