Cab Driver Robbed At Knife Point In Cartersville

BREAKING: The incident was reported Monday morning at McDonald's on Joe Frank Harris Parkway.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A cab driver suffered non-life threatening injuries when police say he was robbed by a customer Monday morning in Cartersville.

Officers were dispatched to a call of a possible robbery around 8:33 a.m. Aug. 7 to McDonald's at 1370 Joe Frank Harris Parkway. They arrived on the scene to find a cab driver who had been assaulted and suffering from injuries.

The suspect, later identified as Ruben Luis McCann, allegedly pulled a knife and "threatened the cab driver right before he ran from the scene," Cartersville Police Department spokesperson Lt. Mike Bettikofer.

Bettikofer said detectives with the police department's Criminal Investigation Division was able to identify McCann and took him into custody a short time later.

Bartow County Jail records show McCann, who was booked into the facility at 10:30 a.m., was charged with aggravated assault, battery, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule IV substances, possession and use of drug-related objects and drugs to be kept in original container. He remains held with a $14,500 bond.
