America 250: Bartow County Roots Bus Tour

Explore Bartow County’s Revolutionary and Cherokee History!

Discover the rich history of Bartow County on Saturday, April 25, as the Bartow History Museum hosts a full-day bus tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. The tour runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is led by Dr. Keith Hebert of Auburn University and Dr. Donna Little of Reinhardt University, highlighting local history from the decades preceding the creation of Bartow County.

Participants will visit an Adairsville cemetery connected to several American Revolutionary War veterans, explore Pine Log Town, a Cherokee settlement active during the Revolutionary era, and learn about the regional impact of figures such as Colonel Benjamin Hawkins and Benjamin Adair. At Wofford’s Crossroads Baptist Church, attendees will hear about the Wofford family’s role in early Euro-American settlement, and the tour concludes at the Etowah Indian Mounds, examining significant Cherokee history leading up to the Trail of Tears.
