<h2>Celebrate Mother’s Day with an Elegant Morning Tea!</h2>
Treat Mom (or yourself!) to a delightful morning at the Bartow History Museum with local author Valerie Holt leading a special Mother’s Day Tea. This two-hour session combines charm and learning as Valerie shares the traditions, etiquette, and secrets of hosting a perfect tea party.
Guests will enjoy a beautiful tea service featuring a variety of teas, classic sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats – all while picking up tips to create their own elegant tea gatherings at home. This event is open to all ages and makes a wonderful way to spend quality time with mothers, daughters, friends, or family.
Space is limited, so advance registration is required.
About the Speaker
Dr. Valerie Holt is a Cartersville native with a lifelong passion for education and food. She spent 30 years teaching public school, including 17 years in Home Economics, and competed in national cooking competitions such as the&nbsp;Pillsbury Bake-Off,&nbsp;National Cornbread Cook-Off, and&nbsp;National Beef Cook-Off. She has authored two cookbooks and now serves as a professor in the&nbsp;School of Education at Berry College, teaching graduate-level courses for future educators.

At either of the check-in sites, swap your Tour Ticket for a colorful Tour Brochure containing addresses and descriptions of all six host sites plus artist, musician and Tour Sponsor information. A self-guided walking tour of five neighboring garden sites starts at 4 Howard Heights. -----Two fabulous collections are being raffled off. Raffle tickets for a choice of the Firepit collection or the Wheelbarrow collection will be sold at the two check-in sites. Each collection is valued at over $800 and will be on display the day of the Tour. Items include garden/landscape/pruning tools, shade sail, dutch oven, grill/griddle, fencing, fire pit, wheelbarrow, and much more. Raffle tickets are $10 each, or $20 for three. Drawings for the two winners will be held the following week. ----- Note: Event is held rain or shine. Many sites will host musicians and Plein Air artists at work. Please leave dogs or other pets at home, as all the garden sites are at private residences. Children are welcome on the Tour to promote a love of gardening but should be supervised. Age 10 or above will need a paid ticket. Under age 10 are free admission. ----- The Magnolia Garden Club accepts donations as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. <h2>Unearthing the Details: Discoveries from the Collection!</h2>
Our Lunch &amp; Learn on May 20 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, featuring volunteer Amethyst Dunn and her recent work with the museum’s collection. Dunn will share how cleaning, research, and comparison with archaeological examples led to new insights on pottery fragments and stone artifacts, including techniques used to reveal faint decorative patterns and identify production methods. She will also highlight the discovery of a lead fragment initially mistaken for stone and how it is now preserved. Attendees will gain insight into the research process and explore discoveries currently on display in the museum’s first-floor middle hall.
